{jcomments on}Mahapola Education and Trade fair Exhibition was  held at the Ruhunu Vijayaba MV in Beliatta from 14 to 18 October 2009.Evillage stall was opened from 14 and daily from 2 pm to 10 pm.EKSP of the Ministry of Education has provide sponsorship for this and monitored by Southern province Education Department and Zonal Education office at Tangalle.Wee would like invite all of you to come and visit our stall to get different kind of experience of IT and the society.

Computer society of Nihiluwa MV has organized Three days IT seminar aiming students who will sit for forthcoming O/L exam in this December. We are conducting with in collaboration with the Students from University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC).The leading IT faculty of Sri Lanka is very keen to help rural school with enhanced IT background.We as a best rural IT enabled school in Tangalle Education Zone is proud to say that last year the same workshop has been done with the help from students from UCSC.

The Principal, Staff and students of Nihiluwa MV highly appreciated this endeavor by students of UCSC.

The Above Conference will be held in Singapore from 8 March to 11 March 2010. Principal of the NIhiluwa MV will represent this as our innovative teaching methods  .During past Three years we have been using IT as a Teaching tool innovatively. Our computer unit was a best unit in 2009 and currently conducting a evillage concept which will help villagers to improve IT knowkdge.Therefore our school selected as a best IT used School in southern province and granted this valuable opportunity.

H. E. the President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha visited Nihiluwa Maha Vidyalaya. It was a surprise to all the students and the staff. The President directly came to the computer unit and examined our web site and our evillage project.  He also promised us to provide a Nenasala for Nihiluwa evillage

Two delegates from Asian Development Bank (ADB) with Mr. Nihal Herath, an Education specialist for Education for Knowledge Society Programme (EKSP) Ministry of Education, Mr. B. Jayathissa, Provincial Project Manager for EKSP paid a visit to Nihiluwa School on 25^thMarch to inspect our Evillage programme.

Mr. Amal  Gunawardhana, Computer Learning Center (CLC Manager provided a comprehensive insight from the inception of evillage programme implementation in eVillage.

They also visited our second evillage computer lab situated in village temple premises.

{jcomments on}IT a most controversial subject in Sri Lanka now became a most aggressive topic in rural areas in Sri Lanka too.Ths is  story about a School in Rural Sri Lanka. Nihiluwa Public School belongs to Tangalle Education Zone and situated in Beliatta Electorate now gained a prominent place in IT among the Schools in down south of Sri Lanka.They started their computer lab which was granted by Secondary Education Modernization project of the  Ministry of Education funded by Asian Development Bank in 2004.They maintained this lab in a convenient way and achieved a best maintained lab in Tangalle Zone in 2008.

Even though there was no IT Teacher for this rural school , the most encouraging story is about a person behind this grate achievements  earned from 2004 to 2010.He is Mr Amal  a sport Teachers of this school .Without any IT trainings he has done a unbelievable job and later  SEMP provided adequate trainings for this Teacher.

• First school in Southern province to introduce Blogs for students.
• First school in Tangalle Zone to publish school web site
• First school based Evillage project.
• First school in Sri Lanka to donate a computer lab for village.
• Provide Scholarships for students with the help from Donors.

Recently ADB  funded  Secondary Education Modernization project of the  Ministry of Education granted this school wireless facility .This will enabled their students to surf internet inside class rooms and some places around school premises.

Their future target is to become a most sophisticated computer lab in Tangalle Zone and empower all the students in School using IT.They also seek more help from Donors for future developments.
